It’s a time to celebrate for the iTech Solutions team. Pete Massiello, Richie Palma, and Steve Pitcher have been selected as IBM Power Champions for 2019.
An IBM Champion, according to the IBM Champion website, means to “demonstrate both expertise in and extraordinary support and advocacy for IBM technology, communities, and solutions.”
IBM Champions for Power Systems is one of six designated business areas included in the IBM Champions program and is one of smallest in size. Pete, Steve, and Richie were all brought into the program when there were less than 42 IBM Power Champions total.
“I believe it to be about the passion we have for the platform, not just within ourselves, but in our ability to evoke and share that response in others.”Pete Massiello, President, iTech Solutions
Pete Massiello was selected in the initial class of IBM Power Systems Champions back in 2011, and has been an IBM Champion ever since. In 2018, Pete was named the first IBM Power Systems Lifetime Champion.
“First, being an IBM Champion is a great honor, knowing the other individuals who are also named as Champions. An IBM Champion is more a state of mind than a position,” Massiello says.
Massiello continues, “It isn’t related to specific events or activities nor do we perform specific acts. I believe it to be about the passion we have for the platform, not just within ourselves, but in our ability to evoke and share that response in others.”
The IBM Champion program recognizes these innovative thought leaders for the positive impact they have on the user communities they serve. It’s also designed to amplify the voice these leaders have both within IBM and in their communities.
“It’s a major honor to even be mentioned in conjunction with the talented individuals carrying the IBM Champion for Power Systems designation,” says Palma. “These individuals are changing the landscape of business compute forever and it’s absolutely amazing as an individual to have that voice, influence, and impact.”
“With Steve, Pete, and I choosing carrier paths that landed us together at iTech Solutions, we not only get to impact the IBM i community together, but also get to drive a small business that gets to help so many IBM i customers to big growth,” added Palma.
Steve Pitcher has been working with IBM Systems for 20 years, and an IBM Champion for 9 years.
“The program gives IBM Champions an opportunity to affect real change and shift perspectives both within and on behalf of the IBM Power Systems user community,” Pitcher says. “Working closely with IBM is a real privilege; not only to understand their vision, but to help shape it.”
Congratulations to all those who were selected for 2019.
